Logo Research, Study and Evaluation

Here at Creative Printing we’ve studied and researched logos for a long time. We’ve been influenced by a lot of professionals including the late graphic design legend, Saul Bass. He created, among other logos, the logos for AT&T, United Airlines, United Way, Rockwell International, and Alcoa.

The Credibility-based Logo

So what is a credibility-based logo? As individuals, we realize that credibility is based on competence, reliability, and forward thinking. Likewise, a company high in expertise, trustworthiness, and forward thinking will be viewed as credible. This is because people relate to companies the same way they relate to people. These are brand-customer relationships. Thus, your company logo plays an important role in an integrated marketing communication system.

Your logo is the “symbol” of your company. As such, its role is to project your company’s unique credibility attributes.

At Creative Printing, How Do We Create a Credibility-based Logo?

We agree with, and adopt, Saul Bass’s basic logo planning approach. He said:

“Each program begins with the formulation of a set of objectives and a verbal description of what the client logo should say. These are the design attributes we want to portray in the new logo. We study the company, visit its offices, interview and meet with its people and come to a very clear definition of what attributes are to be symbolized before any designing is done. Intent has to be articulated before you begin, or you just get sucked into a process where everything you do is self-justifying. Logo planning is ninety percent of the design effort.” -Saul Bass

You often have only one chance to make an impression on a person. Prospective customers will form their opinion of a business in seconds. Your logo is extremely influential; due to it is often the first thing a customer will see. When a customer becomes familiar with your business, the logo is what is associated with the company name. This is why it is important to spend a substantial amount of time when designing or choosing your logo.

1.) Get Creative

• The more unique your logo is the more people will most likely remember your business or brand.
• You want to leave a lasting impression. A well designed logo will do just that.

2.) Negative Space

• It is perfectly fine to have negative space with your logo. Negative space is often referred to as “whitespace” in web design or when designing business cards. This is the empty space around your logo. You do not want anything too close to your logo, so make sure you have negative space.
• The negative space around your logo can be colorful. It doesn’t have to be black or white.

3.) Logo Brand

• It is important to remember that your logo should express your brand.
• This can be demonstrated through fonts, colors, and graphics.

Do you have a sweet tooth? If so, you definitely want to go to Sugar Boogers! Sugar Boogers, formerly known as Sugar Crave, is a locally owned small business baking cupcakes, cakes, cookies, brownies and more.  There bakery is located in the historic downtown area of Panama City Florida on Harrison Avenue.

In 2011 they ranked third in desserts in the Best of Bay.  Owner, Stephanie Carnley was inspired to start her own bakery by her children. She has always enjoyed baking for them and her love for creating cakes blossomed from there. Sugar Boogers has been in business for a little over a year, however she has been in the cake business for 7 years and loves it!

The name Sugar Boogers came from Stephanie’s grandparents. Her grandfather always lovingly referred to her grandmother as “sugar booger.” As you walk into the store you will find a canvas photo on the wall with a picture of Stephanie’s grandparents. They are each holding bottled cokes in their hands. The neat thing is that Sugar Boogers also sells bottled cokes! This canvas demonstrates the love she has for her grandparents and Stephanie wanted to have a family, homey feel when you walk into the bakery.

At Sugar Boogers you can order gourmet cupcakes, custom birthday cakes, wedding cakes, baby shower cakes, cookies, party trays, and our new minis by the dozen. The party trays consist of 7 gourmet cupcakes in travel containers. (So they will stay beautiful) They are then placed on a tray and wrapped and tied neatly. If you have a picture of a cake you want, simply bring it in and they will do their very best to match.

Sugar Boogers wanted to use a locally owned business that was in the downtown area for their printing and design needs. A little over a year ago they teamed up with Creative Printing of Bay County. Stephanie says, “They brought my logo to life.” She has Creative Printing print her labels and recently her canvas of her grandparents that is near and dear to her heart. Stephanie also used creative for her personal wedding invitations.
